Description

An older work I did some ways back that I think needs some attention. =)

A full setup in low light taking a picture of this plaster sculpture I modelled after a home decor piece I saw in a store once. I wanted to show a contrast of texture here...I think some of you have noticed by now that I like showing textures. I liked how the sculpture piece came out not completely smooth and I think the "imperfections" helps convey the endless sorrow the face is stuck into.

Crits are always welcome

good photo, and great subject. i agree that the imperfections really add to the feeling. not so sure about where the object is sitting though, the cloth is somewhat distracting.

textures are showing through- this could use some contrasting colors or lighting to better show the details :) +5

This is excellent, you managed to get good whites and detail alltough this surly was a difficult photo to make (white against white background) Very nice details in the face and the title fits this shot perfectly. Good touch with all the noice in the background.

Now feel the rain of points, my max

Excellent choice of subject....beautiful textures on the mask....and very good exposure to show details on the whites....just wonder how it would look with a black background with natural light by a window.....Welll done Loiusa!....Great mood!

I like the subject and the pale look of the photo. What is the white spot on the right, near the eye? Is that on the film or the actual sculpture?

Good work though! The noise adds another element to the photo.

Thanks for your comments guys!!!

Madilynnn- the actual sculpture... I really did a number on that guy didn't I? lol it's just a bit of plaster knocked off there and it got the light PERFECT, so it's pure white. =) There are a couple of dust specs on the shot, but that isn't one of them hehe.

This is a lovely piece, the white on white is really very subtle yet dramatic. I enjoy this a lot!

I really like the while on white (I swear I wrote this before looking at Abstractor's post ;-)), it adds an interesting feel.. the title suits it quite well. 8/8

let me ramble...i'm gonna do it, i think the texture shows sorrow yes, but more importantly the fact that the face is looking toward the lower left, thats what i have been told is the negative and past tense section of the canvas...(i'll explain if asked) and the crack, i mean it goes up and down like a financial chart, and ends on a down note, that and the black and white, and its all emotion and negative so, yeah...sorrow, i see it...

PeterGrave: for a second I thought I was going to be butchered =P I have pm'ed you to ask about some things though!
