Description

Hey everyone, finally a new series from me! Both in color and black and white, this series showcases the Biltmore Estate located in Asheville, NC. Built in 1895, it is America's largest home, a chateau, visit their website. Keep looking back here for more from the series! (I even got pictures inside the house, even though photography isn't allowed, shh!)

This specific photograph was taken in the garden area. The lighting through the vines overhead was so interesting and had to capture its effects on the texture around. Crits always welcome!

Cheap Automatic Canon Camera w/no focus/exposure settings
Cheap Kodak film
Scanned w/Nikon CoolScan
Color corrections made in PS CS
(yeh, still no digital camera)

I can perfectly imagine this image with nothing more to add than a sharp focus, therefore the composition, light and angle is perfect, very beautiful artwork, always magical and full of air and freshness, Good Job!

yeah this piece is much better than the darker balcony looking out piece, you caught the light in a way that gives defination and mood, architechtural pieces can be hard shots, i know, something that seems strange, is the light is pulling you toward the left hand, thats a reversal of what people often try to do, placing the lightest side on the right...the quasi-psychological ramifications being, its an image of looking back, remembering...very nice..seems very indictive of the subject matter, did you feel like you were shooting in a "groove"? i would guess yes from the higly subconscience nature of the composition....+9

petergrace5: groove...hmm, well by this time I had spent 3 hours at the chateau so perhaps. yet, i usually take photos concerning texture better, so perhaps that is the case here? :) dunno, whatever works, hehe, thanks guys

this one is really nice. i like the overall mood of it all. i wish the greenery was a bit more green but this place looks awesome. i love the green coming out of the rocks giving it that aged look like its been there for a really long time (like it has). My only complaint is that the colors look a bit dull. they could be more vibrant. because of that could u add a link the the black and white version? yeah the more i look at this one the more i like it just a little bit more. at first i was a bit skeptical about the colors though. but its still nice. maybe a warming filter, or a green filter or something. anyways i still like it.
